General council
The general council makes the second link in WTO structure. According to article 4 of the Marrakesh agreement about WTO creation the General council consists of representatives of all members. General council sessions are spent as required (approximately once a month). In breaks between sessions of Ministerial conference of its function carries out the General council.
Under the authority of the General council are Body on revision of a commercial policy and Body under the permission of trading disputes.
The general council when due hereunder carries out Body functions under the permission of trading disputes according to the agreement on rules and procedures of the resolution of disputes. The body on settlement of disputes can have own chairman.
The general council when due hereunder carries out Body functions on commercial policy revision according to the Mechanism of revision of a commercial policy. The body on commercial policy revision can have own chairman.
Besides, Council about trade in the goods, council about trade in services and Council about trading aspects of the rights to the intellectual property, connected with trade (further called as “Council on ТРИПС”) carry out the functions under the direction of the General council.
